It is a general notion that consumption of all drinks/beverages increases water supply to the body. However, drinks containing caffeine such as tea, coffee, cola, alcohol, chocolate act as diuretic (excrete water). Instead of increasing body water such drinks have opposite effect on the body fluids because they contain dehydrating agents, which not only eliminate water contained in them but also eliminate water frm the body’s reserve by promoting urine formation in body. Loss of fluid from the body is more than the fluid intake from such drinks. So increase your water consumption by taking extra glasses of water to compensate loss of water through such drinks. So consumption of such drinks/beverages, when you feel thirsty, should be avoided as far as possible.
Make habit of drinking water but do not have obsession of drinking water all the times and on every opportunity.
