Food is extremely vital and essential source of fuel for our body. Acid forming foods are building. Alkalizing foods are cleansing. Our body needs both types of foods. The body cells receive energy from the nutrients of the foods and drinks which we take. Nutrients in food give the body's cells the energy they need to operate. The nutrients are vital for the normal and healthy functioning of the body on daily basis. These nutrients viz; carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and fats, minerals and water can only be obtained from the food.
The three important functions of the nutrients are:
To produce energy.
To promote growth, development, maintenance, health and repair of tissues, muscles, bones and other fluids.
To regulate biological and physiological functions of the body and brain such as respiratory system, circulatory system, blood pressure, digestion, temperature, chemical processes, metabolic reactions and elimination of waste from the body.
